About Spy

The very handsome Spy (Capehope Aye Spy) got his good looks from his father Robbie (North Traveller to Lethans) who was bred for the showing ring, but who was 'hijacked' by John Hastie - husband of Jeanette Hastie of Lethans line fame - to compete in ISDS sheepdog trials instead. Through Robbie, Spy goes back to a long line of Breed Show Champions including Heather Turner's Nap (F.Ch. Locheil Look North, who passed the difficult ISDS sheep-working test to upgrade his Show Champion status to that of 'Full Champion'), and through Nap to Viber Travelling Mat and Cluff of Mobella (who was the same way bred as Lethans Maximillion and Blackrobin Highlander's dam, Lethans Twice as Nice.

Unlike his parents, Spy showed no interest in working sheep, but was a keen and successful agility competitor despite a hock injury that plagued him all his working life. His career highlights included winning 4 Reserve CCs, being runner-up in Scottish Agility Dog of the Year, the Highland Final, and the KC International Team event, 3rd in the Dania (Denmark) Cup when still competing at UK Novice level, and 3rd in a subsequent KC International Team event.

Like his mother before him, and niece Didi after, Spy was a 'clean' agility dog, who seldom knocked poles, and with fast accurate contacts. He had all the family virtues - being eager to please, learning quickly, forgetting slowly, and with a good off switch. He is easy going and has always got on with everybody, human and dog.

When he retired from full-height competition he excelled in Veterans and Allsorts classes, but is now fully retired, and his favourite spot is next to the AGA.

At age 2 he sired an unplanned litter, and was thereafter neutered.
